Allies Celebrates Direct Support Professional Staff and Names DSP of the Year

On Wednesday, Allies celebrated the exceptional people who work every day to make the Allies mission a reality.

This year, DSP Appreciation Week runs Sept. 13-19. During that time, Allies makes special effort to recognize the direct support professionals working throughout the state.

As part of the annual celebration, Allies hosted 11 DSP for a celebratory awards luncheon. Each DSP in attendance was recognized by their colleagues for the excellent work they do every day.

“We are here today to honor and thank the exceptional people who make this work possible,” Mike Haggerty, President of Allies, Inc., said. “Truly, the excellence of those in this room is the reason we are able to provide supports at the at the level those we serve deserve.”

In total, 11 DSPs were nominated for Allies’ DSP of the Year award for 2026. DSPs were nominated from each region of the state and made the trip to Hamilton to be recognized.

Myriam Sesay, CSS, was named the Allies DSP of the Year for 2026.  Sesay has worked with Allies since October, 2019 and has received high praise from colleagues throughout that time.

“[Myriam] consistently demonstrates thoroughness in her job and maintains organizational excellence that helps the program run smoothly,” Samera Mayfield, who nominated Sesay, said. “Myriam always maintains a clean workspace, taking responsibility for her environment. Myriam has helped out with covering last minute call outs on numerous occasions, she is a team player who will step up when it’s needed the most.”

Myriam is beloved by those she works with, as well as those she supports.

“The residents love her because of the way she treats everyone like they are the most important person, and I have seen her take her time to comfort residents going through a tough time,” Mayfield said. “Myriam truly deserves this recognition for her dedication and attention to detail.”

“I know we would not be able to do this work without the help of everybody in this room, especially the DSPs,” Phil Monetti, COO, said. “We are lucky that we get to call all of you colleagues, thank you for all you do.”
